COMMON QUESTIONS
WHAT TYPE OF THERAPY DO YOU OFFER?
I specialize in working with Black and Brown youth, teens, and young adults ages 10 to 25. I offer individual therapy, family therapy, and group therapy, depending on your needs and goals.
My approach is trauma-informed, culturally affirming, and grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), strengths-based, and client-centered care. But more than anything, I believe in meeting people where they are — emotionally, mentally, and in their healing journey.
Clients often come to work through things like anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, identity struggles, school or career stress, family issues, grief, trauma, racial stress, big emotions, peer conflict, or life transitions. Whether you’re dealing with something heavy or just trying to figure things out, therapy with me is a space where you don’t have to do it alone.
WHAT MAKES YOUR PRACTICE DIFFERENT?
I create a space where you don’t have to shrink yourself, explain every part of who you are, or pretend everything’s fine. Clients have often said that therapy with me doesn’t feel like therapy — in the best way.
That connection matters. Whether we’re unpacking something deep or just checking in, you’ll be met with honesty, warmth, and zero judgment. I bring a mix of clinical training, lived experience, and realness — because healing happens when you feel safe, seen, and truly understood.
ARE SESSIONS VIRTUAL OR IN-PERSON, HOW LONG ARE THEY, HOW LONG WILL I NEED THERAPY?
I currently offer virtual sessions only, which typically last around 50 minutes. There’s no set number of sessions—therapy is a personal journey. Some folks come for a few months, others stay longer depending on their goals and what life throws their way. We’ll check in regularly to see what’s working and adjust based on your progress and needs.
DO I HAVE TO BE IN A SPECIFIC LOCATION?
At the time of your session, you must physically be located in one of the states where I’m licensed: Tennessee, Indiana, Missouri, Colorado, Virginia, Minnesota, Texas, or Florida. That’s a legal requirement for all therapists providing virtual care.
You’ll also need to be in a safe, private, and quiet space where you can speak freely. If you’re in your car, that’s fine — just please don’t drive during your session.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT FIRST SESSION?
The first session is all about getting to know you — no pressure to share everything at once. We’ll talk about what brought you here, go over your intake paperwork, and start mapping out your goals together.
DO I NEED TO HAVE A MENTAL HEALTH DIAGNOSIS?
DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?
I do accept insurance. Payment is due at the time of your session, even when using insurance. I’ll verify your coverage before we get started so you know what to expect.
WHAT IF I'M NERVOUS OR NOT SURE WHAT TO TALK ABOUT?
CAN PARENTS ATTEND SESSIONS WITH THEIR CHILD/TEEN?
Yes — for clients under 18, a parent or guardian is required to attend the first session. This helps us go over important intake information, discuss goals, and make sure everyone’s on the same page. For teens and young adults, privacy is important — we’ll talk together about what makes sense and what’s most helpful.

WHAT IF I WANT TO STOP THERAPY OR TAKE A BREAK?
That’s your call. You can pause or stop anytime. We’ll check in regularly so you can make that decision with clarity, not pressure. Therapy works best when it fits your life — not the other way around.

If you ever feel like it’s not the right fit, I’m happy to refer you to someone who may be a better match — no hard feelings at all. What matters most is that you get the support you need.
You don’t need a diagnosis to deserve support. Some clients come with one, some don’t — either way, we’ll focus on your goals and what you want out of therapy.
That’s normal — and okay. You don’t need to have the “right” words. We’ll figure it out together. Therapy is a space where you get to be real, even when you’re unsure or uncomfortable.
IM INTERESTED IN THERAPY- WHAT SHOULD I DO NEXT?
If you’re ready to explore working together, the first step is to fill out the Consultation Form. It helps me get a sense of what you’re looking for and make sure I’m a good fit for your needs. Once it’s submitted, I’ll reach out within 1–2 business days
